Do I need a coat?

Tell us where you're going and when. We'll check the live forecast and give you a straight answer — plus what to pack instead.

How we decide

We pull the live forecast for your destination and the three days from your travel date. The answer is based on the expected daily high and low in Celsius:

  • Below 8°C — warm winter coat, hat, gloves
  • 8–14°C — coat or warm jacket
  • 14–19°C — light jacket or hoodie
  • Above 19°C — skip the coat, pack a thin layer

Coat-packing FAQ

Do I need a coat?

Use the tool above — it looks at the live forecast for your dates and gives you a yes or no answer based on expected highs and lows.

Coat or jacket?

Coat below about 14°C, jacket from 14–19°C, light layer above. Always check the overnight low — early mornings can be much colder than the daytime peak.

What about windy or rainy days?

Add a windbreaker or waterproof shell on top of your layers. Also check whether you need to pack an umbrella for your trip.
